GENERAL CHAPTER MEETINGS

General Chapters are held every six years and on these occasions a new leadership team is elected by the membership.

What is a General Chapter?

A General Chapter is a canonically required gathering of members of a religious institute to discern the direction for the Congregation for the following six years and elect a Congregational Leader and team.

The delegates to our General Chapter will gather in the name of Jesus Christ, confident that his Spirit will help us to accomplish the work.

What will the delegates do?

Delegates to the Chapter from across the globe, across ministries, across generations, and across cultures will come together under one roof at the Generalate of the Ursulines of the Roman Union. The participants will hear Province reports, examine our faithfulness to our mission, and look at new initiatives to see where we are being asked to change.

In the end the General Chapter will offer specific directives for the whole Congregation, proposing a path to help us live more fully the Life of Christ.
Important decisions that emerge through prayer, discussion, and study will shape the future and set a new direction for our Congregation.

“As we begin our journey to the General Chapter, let us be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit as Angela Merici invites us “to obey the counsels and inspirations which the Holy Spirit continually sends into the heart ... (Rule Chapter VIII)” and Father John Lambertz assures us “that the blessing of God will always rest on the Congregation (Last Testament)”. (Letter of Convocation October 4, 2019)
We invite you to join with us in prayer.
